Hello, I'm Ana
Project manager. Parent. An expat residing in Lisbon, Portugal.
A few years back I moved here with my family. What began as a temporary assignment gradually opened a new chapter of life overseas.
How It Began
Moving to Portugal wasn’t planned for the long haul. Like many expat relocations, it started with a job opportunity and soon grew into something far more significant.
The initial months were demanding — new systems, new routines, new expectations. Everyday tasks seemed more complex than needed.
The Adjustment Period
There was culture shock, uncertainty, and a lot of learning by doing. But gradually, routines took shape. We found places that suited us, connected with other families, and began building something that felt steady.
Why I Created Silent Garden Leaf
The majority of online information was either corporate relocation guidance or shallow tourism content. What was missing was an honest, everyday family viewpoint.
This site aims to fill that void — practical guidance grounded in real life in Portugal.
What This Site Is (And Isn't)
This site is:
- Hands-on experience from living in Portugal
- Centered on family life and day-to-day realities
- Updated whenever something truly changes
This site isn't:
- Not a tourism board resource
- Not a sponsored review platform
- Not a generic travel blog
Moving forward
Our stay in Portugal goes on, and so does the learning journey. As long as the information remains helpful, I’ll continue recording what we learn.
If you have questions about family life in Lisbon or anywhere in Portugal, please don't hesitate to contact us.
Best regards,
Ana
